2026 Bloomington Geometry Workshop

Bloomington Geometry Workshop

April 17 - 19, 2026

The Department of Mathematics at Indiana University is hosting a workshop that brings together mathematicians from diverse backgrounds who are connected by an interest in geometry.

Speakers

The workshop will begin on Friday, April 17th, at 4:00 pm with a colloquium by:

  • Amie Wilkinson (University of Chicago)

The workshop continues on Saturday and Sunday, April 18-19, with an additional lecture by Amie Wilkinson as well as talks by:

  • Grigori Avramidi (Max Planck Institute for Mathematics)
  • Prasuna Bandi (University of Michigan)
  • Andrey Gogolev (Ohio State University)
  • Dan Margalit (Vanderbilt University)
  • Aleksander Skenderi (University of Wisconsin)
  • Wendy Wu (University of Chicago)

Travel Support

With support from the National Science Foundation, we will help defray travel expenses of many participants. Priority will be given to graduate students and early career participants. We especially encourage the participation of those who belong to under-represented groups.

Accommodations

In April, hotels in Bloomington can fill up quickly. Please book your room in advance.

We have reserved a block of rooms for conference participants at the Indiana Memorial Union for $152-$179/night. These rooms will be held until March 17th. If you want to take one of these rooms, please say so on the registration form, and we will book your room directly.

Between talks and after hours

  • Restaurants and coffee: There are many restaurants near the University, with a wide variety of cuisines including: Afghan, Burmese, Eritrean, Indian, Moroccan, Thai, Tibetan, and vegan.
  • Banquet: We plan a fine-dining opportunity for participants and friends on Saturday night.

Location and Directions

  • The Friday Colloquium is in Swain East 105. All other talks will be in Rawles Hall, room 100.
  • Refreshments between talks will be available in Rawles Hall, home to the Mathematics department.
  • On Saturday and Sunday, one can park for free in the Atwater parking garage. More information on parking.
  • Those coming by plane should fly to the Indianapolis International Airport. Commercial carriers do not serve Bloomington.
  • Goexpress offers a shuttle service between Blooomington and the airport. The travel time is an hour.
