Upcoming Visit - Prof. Talitha Washington, PBK Visiting Scholar

Monday, February 26, 2024

4:15 P.M.

Location: Chemistry Building 001

Dr. Washington will participate in several events during her stay, including a public lecture on Monday, February 26, at 4:15pm in Chemistry Building 001. She will speak on “The Mathematics of the Hidden Figures” in which she will uncover the essential ideas created by Katharine Johnson that sent John Glenn into orbit and brought him back safely in a racially segregated era. In addition, there will be opportunities for her to meet with undergraduate students, especially Phi Beta Kappa students and STEM students across campus. I hope that you will plan to attend her public lecture and that you’ll encourage your faculty and students to do so. We have already sent information to academic advisors, so they will be spreading the word to students as well.
