Rauwerda is a freelance writer and former staff writer at Input Magazine and was Wikimedian of the Year in the media category. Her writing on offbeat topics was highlighted in a profile in the New York Times https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/31/style/wikipedia-instagram-depths-annie-rauwerda.html .Rauwerda approached Davis upon learning of the frequent letters Davis receives from fans of the like-named author of the Garfield the Cat comics. After recapping highlights of mis-directed mail, and aided by video, Davis briefly explained the mathematical field of topology to a cheering audience.
