Academic Year Undergraduate Internships (UGI) -- Grading and assisting with teaching

Each year the Department of Mathematics hires a significant number of math majors as assistants and graders for certain freshman-level courses. See the UGI/UGG information page on the math department web site for more details on work assignments and current stipends. If you're qualified, it's hard to find a better part time job!

Summer Undergraduate Research Experiences

Our department hosts a summer program in which advanced undergraduates from around the country come to Bloomington for an intense eight-week session of guided individual research projects, augmented by a variety of other group activities. IU students are eligible for this program. See the REU web site for more information. Applications are due in late February.

It is often worthwhile for IU students to take part in a research program at another university. Here are some web sites that list various such opportunities:
